Christmas/Holiday Duets - Over The River And Through The Woods

1 Attachment(s)
"Over The River And Through The Woods" is a "traditional" holiday song. The composer is not known, but the popular lyrics were written by Lydia Maria Child. I remember being taught this song in grade school in the late '40s. To us, it was a Thanksgiving Song,

Although this score repeats twice, I have only included the first verse as the lyrics. Like many "traditional" songs, subsequent verses don't always match the meter of the music. If you like to see more of the lyrics, check the Internet - one pretty decent link is:

If you would like to see the lyrics or the chords, you can use Composer commands to display them: for lyrics use qsl; for chords use qscn.

Re: Christmas/Holiday Duets - Over The River And Through The Woods

Thanks, Ralph.

We used it as a thematic song for our 2019 panto of Little Red Riding Hood (of course) -- with our own lyrics specific to each character.

For instance, one of Little Red's verses was "Over the river and through the wood, oh, Grandmother's house is far. All alone in the wild unknown, where the creepy-crawlies are."

Ah, the good old days, when we could actually sing on stage.
