Couple of questions

Hi, I am new here and with this software but I am really enjoying it. How do you split the notes so you get the top notes as a melody and the ones on the bottom as chords? Also, can you delete unwanted notes that are displayed from the MIDI file? I would really appreciate any help I can get with this as soon as possible. Thanks!

You can use Staff/Split melody and accompaniment notes. In the dialog box that comes up, just select which staff you want to split, and Musician or Composer will split the notes of that staff into two staves - one with the top melody notes, and the other with the bottom accompaniment notes.

To delete a note, you can select it, then press the "Delete" key on your keyboard. If you're using Musician, you need to be careful about that, though, as you can't add back notes with Musician (you can use "Undo" though to get them back.) If you want to be able to play around with putting in new notes, you'll need to use Composer.

Have fun!
Sherry

Thanks so much for your help. Is there a way to delete sections without any notes on them? Thanks!

Re: Couple of questions

Howdy,

You can use "Measure/Delete measures" to remove measures from the score. If the section you want to remove begins part-way into a measure, you can split that measure to create a smaller measure to remove. The barlines provide the "sign posts" as it were for deleting the right section :)

ttfn,
Sherry
