Hi Denise,

What kind of file are you trying out? Perhaps you could post one or two here, and let us know what you want to do with them and we (collective "we" ;) ) can take a look.

Sherry

Hi, Sherry, Denise:

As long as it's a "collective we" and not a "royal we". :D

One thing you should be aware of, Denise, is that many midi files are created as step-time or "one-note-at-a-time" pieces without a lot of performance variation in them. This is often done to help with correct timing and notation.

As you're a keyboardist, use Composer to record yourself playing and create a .not/.mid file from that. When you play it back, you will hear the notes you played almost exactly as you played them. BUT, if you look at the notation, you'll shriek, because it won't look much like the sheet-music.

It takes a lot of precision to play into a midi recorder and get readable notation the first time.

That's why a lot of midi files tend to sound robotic.

Keep plugging, though.

David
