No USB input and MidiOx not in config screen
 

I have an MAudio keystation Pro 88. If I use the terrible drivers for it, Notation sees it. Problem is that they are soooo problematic in Sonar, both 8.5.3 and X1c. Since I use Sonar more, I won't load them.

I read the other post through from johnbuff. I have used MidiOx quite a bit, so I thought the mapper would be a solution. But it doesn't show up in the config and I can't find where to add it as a new internal device. I even started MidiOx before Notation and it doesn't show up.

Hi Shep,

I'll confess to not having used MidiOx personally, but I think (from what I recall) that you'll need to have virtual MIDI cables set up to connect it to other MIDI apps/devices.

If you don't have any virtual MIDI cables installed, you can see this other thread.

If (or after) you've got virtual MIDI cables already installed: To try to force Composer to recognize a MIDI device after starting the MIDI device and then Composer:

1. Setup/MIDI Device Configuration (not the Quick one).
2. Config/Initialize - this makes Composer search for open MIDI devices.

If you need to manually add a device,

1. Setup/MIDI Device Configuration (not the Quick one)
2. New External Device (the virtual cable is considered "external")
3. Enter the info.

Hope this helps, or perhaps even better, that some of our other musicians who regularly use MidiOx might chime in.

Hi, Shep and Sherry:

I suppose you could use MidiOx as a middle-man between the M-Audio driver and Composer, but it seems to me to be a long way around.

Sherry is right in that MidiOx is not, in itself, a midi device, so it won't ever show up in the device list.

You'd have to install MidiYoke (from the same people who brought you MidiOx) or LoopBe or a similar virtual device, route the input from your M-Audio driver through MidiOx and send it out to your virtual device in MidiOx's mapper. Only then can you run Composer and select the appropriate virtual device as input.

You will be adding a couple of layers of delay to your input, though.

Best to see if you can force Composer to see your "good" M-Audio drivers through the manual process Sherry described.
