Default Sources for soundfonts to use with Composer

Hi friends,

I've had some inquiries about where to find soundfonts to use with the internal Notation Software Synth in Notation Composer. (Please note that Notation Musician 3 and 4 only use the soundfont that we ship with the software, since the primary goal of Notation Musician is getting good notation sheets from .mid files).

There are a plethora (fun word) of free soundfonts on the internet. Our best recommendation is to use your favorite search engine and search for "free soundfont". There are a lot of folks who would love to share their labors of love with you. With version 4 of Composer, loading these different sound fonts will let you see the actual instrument patch names that are in the soundfont, not just the General MIDI (GM) instrument patch names as in version 3.

Please note that there are also some excellent ones you can purchase as well - modify your search accordingly.

If you find anything that you think others would find interesting, please feel free to post that here. We used to keep a resource page with links, but things change so fast that we no longer do that and just suggest searching for yourself.

Enjoy!
Sherry
