Default Copying Chords

I should have asked this question YEARS ago, but I didn't - so here goes.

I've researched this topic and with the arguments I've used, I can't find any way to copy a section of measures and get only the chord pattern. I get notes and lyrics, but no chords. Is there a trick to copying the chord symbols alone or with the notes and lyrics?

Hi Ralph,

To copy and paste in ONLY the chord names,
  1. select the region of measures to copy like you normally do,
  2. Edit/Copy (or ctrl + c)
  3. select the region of measures you want to paste into
  4. NOW use Edit/Paste Special, then select "Paste Chord Names"
and viola*! You paste in only the chord names.

Enjoy
Sherry

Thank you very much, Sherry!

How would I have found that tip in the User Guide? I hate to ask you to spend time teaching me how to read the UG. My search arguments did not bring up the solution you gave me.

Hi Ralph,

You're very welcome

First please let me ask how did you go about looking for such a feature? Oftentimes I like to find out how folks try to do things so we can improve the interface for tasks and for the User Guide.

The information that I gave you below is detailed on the "Adding and editing chord names" page in the User Guide, which you can find if you use the Index and go to "chord names" and then the subtopic "adding and editing". Going to "chord names" and then the subtopic "copy" will open "adding and editing" as the option to select as well.

ttfn,
Sherry
