Hey Big D,
All in all you did a great job on the untitled piece. I'm not overly fond of the "seashore" effect. It really doesn't sound like the seashore, but more like static or the wind. I'm not up on today's genres either. Could it be "New Age"? >quote: "Like other dance music, it's somewhat repetitive, and I don't expect alot of people to like it, excepting my friends who listen to that kind of music all the time." I'm an old guy, Daniel, but unlike my elders as I was growing up playing my 'today' music, I can appreciate all music. What you've done is create an interesting composition, encompassing not only the necessary skills and knowledge but also feeling and "soul". I'm certain a lot more people than just your friends who listen to that style all the time would like it as well. I like the way you built suspense and anticipation that leads to a nice climax. The only suggestion I might have is to try for a little more balance in the volume levels. I think some of the grand piano parts can be brought up just a little in places to give the piano a bit more authority. Again, nice job! I'm very impressed with most of what you have done. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Fred |

Hi, Daniel!
You've done a great job! I quite enjoy this because the dance music one of my favorite genres. For my opinion this is a pure techno-style. Regarding the name of this peace, I'd propose: 1. The End of Illusion. 2. Be Strong, Pal. 3. Speeding On Turns. Mostly I've been impressed of your drum line arrangement. I haven't find yet 'open hat' effect on 2-nd and 4-th bit of measure. Also, I like a lot of tr... with the bass drum! Can you show me a short fragment of the bass line, Daniel, in .not format (4 measures would be enough)? I would like to learn how to arrange such a rhythm. I'd surely appreciate that. Thanks a lot. Kombrig. |

Howdy, Fred!
I have a question to you, if I may... You wrote once: ---------------- I use 6\8 mainly for a jazz waltz. ---------------- Did you mean 9\8? I'm asking because in 6\8 t.s. one beam group of three 8-th is missing. How did you do that, Fred? Can you show me one of your arrangements of jazz waltz? And I'll show you mine. I believe we can open a new 'WALTZ' thread on 'ACCORDION' page. Thank you. Kombrig. |

Hi Mark,
Thank you for your concern. After Patsy's biopsy today, things do not look good. We won't know for about a week for sure, but she said she has reason to be very concerned about the results. Cheers, Fred |

Hello All,
I just re-did "Patsy's Song" using GPO Steinway Grand Piano. I added strings to the original some months ago, but incorporating strings with GPO will be a later project ( I still have some book larnin' to do ). The MP3 with Steinway Grand is on my soundclick site: http://www.soundclick.com/fredwinterling Cheers, Fred |

Hello All,
Fred just sent Sherry and me some very good news about Patsy, which Fred asked that I pass on to the many of you who have expressed concern to Fred in various threads in this forum and in email to him. Here's what Free said:

<!-quote-!>quote: Great News!! Patsy's surgery was a complete success. A complete mastectomy was done and only one lymph node was taken. The final pathology report shows it to be NEGATIVE. After her next appointment on the 26th, if all goes as expected, they will set her up with an oncologist to discuss further treatment. The doctor said she may be "busy" for the next 6 months. However, any further treatment she opts for would be "precautionary" and not because of any bad information found. ... I don't think the results would have been the same without the prayers and well wishes of so many wonderful people ... Cheers, Fred<!-/quote-!>

It sounds like Fred is going to be busy for a little while before he can reconnect to all of us. But I suspect he'll be peeking into the forum as soon as he gets a chance, but not any sooner than it might take him to absorb the good news about Patsy. Cheers -- Mark |

Fred said: I am on the world's slowest dial-up computer.
You can't be, Fred. I am! Six miles from where Alexander Graham Bell personally installed the 2nd pair of telephones ever made and I swear we're using the original phone lines. All the best for you and Patsy. David |
