Default Re: Rest Toolbar.

Hi, Martin:

You should be able to simply click on the Rest icon beside the Notes icon. Select the Note/Rests tab, then choose the second icon from the left in the main palette.

For the most part, Composer handles insertion and placement of rests pretty much automatically.

The Rest Tool can be used to cut note values, changing, for instance, a half note into a dotted quarter and adding an eighth rest after it. It can also be used for fine manipulation of rest values, for instance, if you wished to change a quarter note rest into two eighth note rests for some reason.

Honestly, in a lot of years of using Composer, I don't think I've really had a need to use the Rest Tool more than a half-dozen times. I do it almost entirely from the Notes palette.

I hope that helps.

David
