Default proper music writing technique

I am writing a four part arrangement. It has a verse with a 1st and 2nd ending except that one part plays an alternate line the second time through. What is the best way to write this out. I would like to avoid writing out the second verse for all the parts as that adds a lot of pages, and would like the measure numbers and rehearsal marks to be consistant for the part which changes on the 2nd verse. What is the proper convention for doing this. I am thinking a double staff for that part or is there a better solution?

Hi, Panworks:

Is it possible to write it on the same staff as an upper (or lower) voice part, with a free text note to indicate what is played when?

No, since it is the same voice both parts are in the same range and would overlap and be confusing.
